Sip Trunks
A Sip Trunk is the "outside line" for a VOIP based PBX in the same way that an ISDN2 or ISDN30 line is for a circuit-switched PBX.
A trunk is delivered over your existing internet connection - or we can arrange a new internet service to carry it if you prefer.
A trunk can carry as many concurrent telephone calls as you need, subject to the limitations of your available internet bandwidth. We are happy to help work out what that means for your specific installation. The minimum number of channels (concurrent callls) is two.
Incoming calls
Just like incoming calls on a "real" phone line, calls placed to any of your registered numbers are delivered to your PBX. You can register a single number or any number of "DDI" numbers, on the same or different STD codes. The PBX will know what number was dialled, and if avaialbe who dialled it, so call distribution is fully automatic.
Outgoing calls
Outgoing calls are routed via our voice switches to anywhere on the telephone network, and billed at our VOIP rates. We don't charge any call setup fee, nor are there minimum call durations, we just charge you by the second for the call as made.
Setup
It takes a few days to set up a Sip Trunk and test it with your PBX. There's certain information we need and we ask you to help us have this ready when we come to place the order.
Price.
Setup is £60. Thereafter, the mothly rental is £5 per channel, plus calls as indicated above. Fully itemised billing is standard.
Number porting
We can "port" in any existing telephone number from the BT network and assign them to your Sip Trunk. This is a popular method for customers to keep their pre-existing numbers when they move office or house. There's a one-off charge for porting numbers, but no additional rental is charged.
Prices quoted are exclusive of VAT.
